Important Dates

Our experienced hiking guides Will Meijer and Sander van Smaalen offer a hike twice a year (spring and fall). This fall, we will hike together from Soranger to Bärnfels and back, including lunch together at the Gasthof zur Einkehr inn in Bärnfels.

Outward journey: 6.0 km, 118 meters of elevation gain; approx. 2 hours and 40 minutes walking time.
Return journey: 3.3 km, 92 meters of elevation gain; approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes walking time.

Journey from Bayreuth: approx. 30 minutes. Navigation system: 91278 Soranger.
From Bayreuth, take the A9 motorway towards Nuremberg. Take exit no. 45, Weidensees; at the end of the exit, turn left towards Gräfenberg/Weidensees. In Weidensees, turn right and after 10 meters turn left towards Nuremberg/Gräfenberg. Follow the B2 and after 4 km, in Leupoldstein, turn right towards Pottenstein. After approx. 1 km in Weidenhüll, turn left towards Soranger. Shortly after the town sign, you will see the parking lot on the right (photo). Please note: If the road is closed due to construction work, an alternative route to Soranger is via Obertrubach – Bärnfels – Kleingesee; or via Behringersmühle – Kleingesee. (In this case, the parking lot in Soranger would be at the town exit.)
