Since its founding in 1976, the International Club (IC) has been an established support organization that acts as a link between international guests, researchers, and the Bayreuth community. We promote intercultural exchange and support the university's internationalization strategy through cultural events, integration programs, and cooperation with the International Office and the Graduate School. Whether through welcome parties, regional city tours, family events, or the prestigious IC Award, we aim to facilitate the integration of university members into Bayreuth.
In 2026, we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary and, in addition to our usual events and offerings, we will of course also be hosting special anniversary celebrations. We will provide information about these in good time on our website and social media channels. Stay tuned and celebrate with us!
Annual International Club Award (IC Award)

In 2025, we once again supported scientists at the University of Bayreuth with the IC Prize, which is endowed with €1,200.
This year's winner is Dr. Heyou Zhang, who works in a highly developed and competitive field of research at the interface between optical physics and materials science. He is not only an innovative researcher and a patient tutor for doctoral students, but also extremely socially engaged.
He helps international students, who come to Germany, to quickly gain a foothold and integrate themselves.

Our events
We organize regular events throughout the year with the aim of facilitating a variety of encounters. These events are intended for professors and doctoral students who are new to the University of Bayreuth and want to get to know the city and make connections, as well as for their families and international guests.
